Problem

Cryptocurrency investors often hold assets across several exchanges, making it difficult to understand their total portfolio without sharing sensitive data with another service.

Role and scope

I designed and developed the product end to end, including the mobile-first interface, exchange integrations, and privacy model.

Key decisions

Combine connected exchange balances, allocation, and performance in one portfolio overview.
Keep user-entered data encrypted on the user's device rather than storing it on a central server.
Offer an additional security key that is required to unlock and decrypt the portfolio.

Outcome

MercuryApp became a working web product used by around 300 people and provided the foundation for further mobile development.
